So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God. (2 Chr 27:6)
Out of all the good kings of Israel, there was only one who had nothing negative said of him. The other kings had their faults in at least one area but of Jotham there was nothing recorded of him that was unfavorable. And why was that? He prepared his ways before the Lord.
Do you prepare your ways before the Lord? Do you seek the Lord in your decisions at home and at work? Do you go as far as to prepare your plans for vacation and entertainment before Him? Jesus said it this way, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Mat 6:33) And the apostle Paul said this, Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No? (2 Cor 1:17)
The next time you look over your schedule or plan something, make sure you take some time to pray over your arrangements. That’s what Jotham did and the Bible says he became mighty. God wants to guide our lives. And just a little time spent in prayerful preparation will assure us of His control and keep us from a lot of confusion later.
So a good little prayer over decisions might be . . . “Lord, what do you think?” Then we can be confident of God’s guidance. What a great way to live . . . and not only to live but also to enjoy life at the same time!
(Psa 16:7-8, 11) I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel . . . 8 I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved . . . 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore!
