THE WISDOM I NEED

(James 1:5) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

How many situations do we find ourselves in where we need the wisdom of God? There are so many times where we just don’t know what to do. But did you know that God has it all figured out? From the smallest to the largest situation, God knows exactly what is the right thing to be done. All we have to do is go to Him and ask Him to lead us in His perfect wisdom and He will!

When we ask the Lord for wisdom He will surely give it liberally. Remember when Solomon asked for wisdom to lead God’s people? God gave him a heavy dose and he became the wisest man in the world (1 Kings 3). In the book of Proverbs wisdom is personified as a woman crying out to people at the city gates saying ample wisdom would be given if you would just ask. (Pro 1:20-24).

King Jehoshaphat was in trouble. The enemies of Israel had them surrounded and they were outnumbered. Jehoshaphat didn’t know what to do so he cried out to the Lord: "O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You." (2 Chr 20:12) God gave wisdom on what to do. They put the singers up front to praise the Lord and God routed the enemy and they were saved!

Got a situation that is puzzling you lately and you don’t know what to do? God’s wisdom is always greater than ours. Let’s go to Him for the insight we need. He won’t reproach us for coming and we are guaranteed that wisdom will be abundantly given if we would just put our trust in Him. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And HE SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATHS. (Pro 3:5-6)
