THE POOR

(Psa 41:1) Blessed is he who considers the poor...

God’s heart is always for the poor and needy in our society. And He promises a great blessing to the one who reaches out in Jesus’ name. The blessings include (from Psa 41:1-3):

-You will be delivered in times of trouble.

-The Lord will preserve you.

-The Lord will keep you alive.

-You will be blessed on the earth.

-You will not be delivered to the will of your enemies.

-You will be strengthened and sustained in illness.

Wow! Why all these blessings? Because God cares about the hurting, lost, and needy of this world. His heart is to ease their suffering. God is love (1 John 4:8) and He cares about the needs of others and proved it by sending His Son to die. And He longs to use you and me as an extension of His hands to soften the blow of life’s ills. It’s a “win-win” situation. The person is blessed and you are blessed. With the bitter woes of suffering eased, hope is rekindled in the heart of man for the goodness of God and the reflection of His goodness in the heart of man. Prospects are brightened and God’s heart is blessed, and people are won to the love of God (Mat 5:16).

Let’s remember the fact that Jesus became poor so we could be rich (2 Cor 8:9). God commands the rich to be rich in giving (1 Tim 6:17-18). You are rich if you have more than one other person.

Let’s keep an open hand as we go through our schedule this week. And let’s remember our Lord who at one time had nowhere to lay His head.
