"So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. (Eze 22:30)
Our country is in need. It is prospering materially but decaying morally and spiritually. It is a nation that knows better because we have God as the basis for our constitution but not in the backbone of our institutions. Our forefathers knew God and founded this nation on Christian and biblical principals. But we have turned away from the Lord and have allowed sin to rule and reign in our hearts and in our land. Because we knew better we will have the stricter judgment from the Lord if we do not repent. (Luke 12:48) . . . For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required . . . There are many gaps in the wall in our land and God is looking for someone to stand in the gap to be a defense for our nation.
Moses was a man who stood in the gap for Israel. When Moses was receiving the Law up on Mount Sinai, the Israelites were committing idolatry down below with the golden calf. God wanted to wipe them out but Moses interceded for them and God relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people. (Exo 32)
Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” You might say there’s nothing you can do for our nation but you can pray like Moses and walk in righteousness like Solomon. As we pray for righteousness to exalt our nation and as we personally set the example of righteousness in our lives, we will make a difference. God hasn’t given up on our nation yet and we shouldn’t either. Let’s stand in the gap and keep fighting for our country with the weapons God has given us for victory. (2 Cor 10:4) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
