The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge . . . (Pro 1:7)

Ever get information overload? The problem is not having enough information these days, it’s what to do with the information we already have. Our society is hammering us with all kinds of facts and as a result we are confused with the options. I guess life was kind of easier with the basics of knowledge but now that we know everything we find out we are overwhelmed at what we should do. And so many times we don’t do a thing! Thanks a lot, information, I thought you were supposed to be the answer and you would help show me the way. Do you have to be so intimidating?

I guess what we need at times like this is wisdom. Wisdom from the Lord to make decisions we need to make. When all the data is in it’s time to seek the Lord through prayer and let God sort it all out and lead us in His ways. In fact, it’s probably best to seek the Lord before we look into all the information at hand. That way God will show us what is necessary and what is not and this will save us a lot of time and energy.

And the best knowledge we can obtain is the knowledge of God’s Word. And through His Word the Lord will lead us in His wisdom on how to act upon the information we already have:

- (Psa 119:105) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

- (Deu 4:5-6) "Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. 6 "Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'

May the Lord make us a wise and understanding people in this day and age of information overload!
