(Mat 28:17) When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

Are you one of those who doubt everything? Do you find yourself skeptical about what you hear and what you observe? Are you suspicious about people and their motives? Do you tell yourself a hundred and one ways that something will not work out? Do you feel you were born with a question mark for a brain?

Would this be because you are naturally inquisitive? Or might it be you’ve been burned before and so you have a hard time trusting? Whatever the reason, are you tired of being a doubting Thomas or Tina? Then be encouraged by these thoughts from Scripture:

DOUBT DOES NOT DESCRIBE THE LIFE OF THE BLESSED - (Deu 28:66) "Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life.

DOUBT IS A COMPANION TO TROUBLE - (Luke 24:38) And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?

DOUBTS WILL SINK YOU - (Mat 14:30-31) But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

DOUBTS LEAD TO AN UNSETTLED MIND AND HEART - (James 1:6) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

FAITH IS THE CURE FOR DOUBT - (Mark 11:22-24) So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Remember old Abraham? God said Sarah would bear him a son in his old age. And God did it! Genesis records his lapses of faith along the way but the New Testament commentary on Abraham is soft on his failures and strong on his faith. (Read Hebrews 11:8-12 and Rom 4:18-22). Isn’t that gracious of the Lord?

Yes, even Abraham made it out of the Dungeon of Doubt into a prominent place in the Faith Hall of Fame. And you can too . . . without a doubt!
