(Exo 34:6-7) . . . "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7 "keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin . . .

What is God like? A basic and natural conception of God is that He is mysterious, far out there, and that there might be a way to connect with Him if we only knew how. But God has revealed Himself through His Word and through His Son Jesus Christ (2 Pet 1:3-4; 2 Cor 4:6). We can know what God is like. And when we know what God is like we will want to love Him and serve Him forever! Here are some of the attributes (characteristics) of God and the scriptures to go along with them. I hope you can take some time soon and look them up. It’s an exciting study and I know you will be blessed!

God is:

Compassionate – James 5:11

Eternal – Revelation 1:8

Faithful – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Good – Nahum 1:7

Gracious – 1 Peter 2:3

Holy – Isaiah 6:1-3

Long-suffering – Romans 2:4

Love - 1 John 4:8

Merciful – Luke 6:36

Omnipotent (all powerful) – Genesis 17:1

Omnipresent (ever present) – Psalm 139:7-10

Omniscient (all knowing) – Psalm 139:1-6

Righteous – Exodus 9:27

Unchanging – Malachi 3:6

Wise - Jude 1:25

Now that we know what God is like . . . let’s tell the world how good He is! (Psa 34:8) Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
