THE WAY

(Acts 22:4) "I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

Believers in the book of Acts were called people of “the Way”. They were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) but their way of life was called “the Way”. I like that because it fits in with what Jesus said in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” Jesus is the way to God and the path on which we trod is called “the Way”.

Now, this road we travel on will not be too populated, for Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Mat 7:13-14) But we are thankful for Jesus who went ahead of us and now says “Follow Me!” (Mat 4:19) Other saints have gone before as well and now they cheer us on as the great “cloud of witnesses”. (Heb 12:1)

This Way can be shown to others: (Acts 16:17) “The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation.” How lost people are without Jesus! People just can’t seem to find their way. You look at their life and just weep in your heart. But you pray for them and reach out to them and point the way to Jesus. God puts lost people and found people together because His intention is to be able to say to each person “For this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found . . . ” (Luke 15:24)

I’m so glad I have found the Way and that I can now show others the Way. If Jesus is in your life then that’s the WAY TO GO!
