(Isa 53:6) All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Does your heart tend to stray from the Lord to the things of this world? You want to know why? Because you and I are sheep, and sheep are known to stray from the shepherd and walk right into trouble. But aren’t you glad that Jesus is the Good Shepherd? (John 10) He’ll go to any length to leave the ninety-nine and find that one wanderer (Mat 18:12-14).
Where’s your heart today? Are you staying close to the Shepherd or are you straying a bit from the safety of His love? If you feel like the wanderer lately, be assured the Lord is on the way to bring you back under His rod and staff (Psalm 23). He knows you are prone to wander and stands ready to rescue you. All you have to do is admit that you are a sinner saved by grace and have a wandering heart and can’t do a thing without His help and power. Once you realize that you are positioning yourself for His tender and compassionate touch upon your life as the Good Shepherd. No matter how far you feel from the Lord, He is right there to close the mouth of the wolf that is trying to devour you.
Let the Lord lead you back to safety. His pasture is the richest and best. If the grass looks greener on the other side then realize it’s only because it’s over the world’s septic tank! Tell the Lord you are tired of wandering and He will open the gate and let you back in to where the flock feeds on God’s faithfulness. Let’s stay satisfied with Jesus alone!
