There is an epidemic of obesity in America today. It’s a problem in children as well as adults. We’re overeating and not exercising. We’re pigging out but not working out. We’re watching TV instead of our weight. Computers and video games. Entertainment centers and movie theatres. It’s getting serious and the medical community is issuing warnings about resulting health problems. But did you know that obesity is also a problem in the Christian life?
God loves us and wants to bless us. He can’t help it! We’re His children and He loves to lavish good things on us. He gave us His own Son and how he longs to freely give us all things (Rom 8:32). If we are thankful for His blessings, then we keep fit in our spiritual life (Psa 103:1-5). If we start taking things for granted, then we’re going to add calories and start being cocky. The Lord said we can even become obese and forsake the Lord who made us!
Take a moment right now and give thanks to the Lord for all He’s done for you. Recall His blessings on your life and one by one give praise to the Lord. Don’t let the cares of this life “weigh” you down. Let’s focus on God’s goodness and with all that praising we’ll be trim for Him!
