(1 Kings 7:21) Then he set up the pillars by the vestibule of the temple; he set up the pillar on the right and called its name Jachin, and he set up the pillar on the left and called its name Boaz.
When Solomon built the temple, he erected two pillars outside the entrance. They were tall and ornate and so imposing were they that they were named Jachin and Boaz, which means stability and strength. So every time you would go to worship at the temple you would be reminded of the Lord’s stability and strength in your life.
We need stability because at times the situations of life will jar us and will want to get us all jittery and downcast. At these times we can trust the Lord to keep us stable. “Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psa 55:22)
And of course we need strength because we are frail men and women of dust trying to keep up with all the responsibilities of life. But the Bible says: ... “Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” (Isa 40:31) The Scriptures also say God’s children go from strength to strength (Psa 84:7). I like that aspect of getting stronger, not weaker.
And as we worship today, the same stability and strength is offered us as in Solomon’s time. So as you fight the good fight of faith during the week, keep worshiping the Lord and be reminded of the stability and strength that is in Jesus Christ alone.
Jesus is the Rock so you ain’t gonna roll! Praise God!!
