SAVIOR, NOT SOAP!

"In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness. (Zech 13:1)

The other day Cheryl and I were browsing in a gift shop looking at all the curious items for sale. It was one of those shops where everything was interesting to look at but very overpriced. No matter because we were just browsing anyway. But on this one display was a bar of soap that promised to wash all your sins away! I kid you not. I guess it was some kind of joke you could play on your friend by buying them this off-the-wall gift. I looked at the wrapper on the soap bar and it actually had directions on it to draw the water, get in the tub, lather up well with the soap, rub hard, and voila . . . your sins will be washed away.

This bar of soap might be a joke to give to a friend, but we have to remember sin is no laughing matter. And the price that was paid by God giving His Son on Calvary was not cheap. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Nothing can wash your sins away except the blood of Jesus! People try lots of things to improve and reform themselves but only by His stripes are we healed. It’s not going to be religion, self-help, education, or anything else that will wipe out those sins from the past; no matter how hard you scrub! “For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, Yet your iniquity is marked before Me," says the Lord GOD.” (Jer 2:22)

But there is a fountain you can dip in and be clean. It’s the fountain of Christ’s blood that is for sin and uncleanness. No matter what you’ve done, you can be forgiven and cleansed through His work on the cross. Come and be washed in the only source of cleansing for mankind. Immerse yourself fully in that crimson spring of life. Come up clean and be robed in the righteousness of Christ alone. Then you will be a trophy of God’s mercy and a directional arrow to the only One who can make you clean.

What can wash away my sins?

Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
