(Mark 7:37) And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."
It was said of our Lord that He did all things well. They brought to Him a deaf and mute man and Jesus took him aside, spat and touched his tongue, looked up into heaven and said “Be opened.” This man’s ears were opened, and his tongue was loosed and he spoke plainly. The people were blown away and they commented on how well the Lord had performed His works.
The Lord does do all things well, doesn’t He? Think about the beauty of the earth. (Gen 1:31) Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. Then think about His touch upon your life. By His stripes you were healed and now your ears are open to His Word and His ways and your tongue has been loosed to speak praise to His name (Isa 53:5; Psa 40:6; Psa 51:15). Think about all those answers to prayer and how well the Lord answered them and in the perfect timing (James 1:17; Eccl 3:11).
How about you? Do you do all things well? I’m not talking about being a perfectionist. I’m talking about when you have a job to do, do you give it your best thought and energy all the way through to completion? (Eccl 9:10; Eccl 7:8) Do you do it as unto Christ? (Col 3:17)
God deserves our best. He gave His very best in the gift of His Son (John 3:16; 2 Cor 9:15). Now we can offer Him our best. Our devotion put into motion you might say.
When Israel was to give an animal for sacrifice to the Lord they were to present an animal without blemish (Exo 12:5). The prophet Malachi indicted the children of Israel for offering blind and lame and sick sacrifices to the Lord (Mal 1:8).
When you do your work for the Lord do you give it all you got? Or would it be called “sloppy agape?” The Lord commends the hard-working servant (Mat 25:21; 2 Tim 2:6) but rebukes the lazy servant of His (Mat 25:26). “Shabby chic” is not in fashion in the Lord’s service. (Rom 12:11) not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
May it be said of us as it was said of Jesus . . . “He has done all things well!”
