INSECURITY

(1 John 4:18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Do you ever suffer with feelings of uncertainty, a lack of confidence, inadequacy, of not measuring up? Do you ever experience uneasiness about the future, that something could go wrong, that if something fell from the sky it would pick you to fall on? Do you long to have a sense of protection, safety, and assuredness, like a child feels at bedtime after a story, a prayer, and a kiss goodnight? How do you get over those feelings of insecurity?

God speaks to the anxious heart and brings a calm assurance. And this is what He says:

· (Psa 46:1-3) God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

· (Deu 33:27) The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms . . .

· (Zec 2:8) . . . he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

Jesus died on the cross to save me and make me God’s child. I am loved, I am protected, I am safe in His everlasting arms. I can face the future, I can meet the demands, I can cross the rivers with confidence. Why? Because He is with me. I am safely tucked into His love. He reads to me His Word. He invokes His prayers over me to the Father because He ever lives to make intercession for me (Heb 7:25). Good night. Sleep tight. Jesus is the night-lite!
