GET SOME ORDER IN YOUR DISORDER

There is so much talk these days about disorders. There’s a disorder for this and a disorder for that. Some are legitimate, and others are outright ridiculous. Finding out if you have a disorder can be beneficial and put you on the path of health and healing. At other times it’s a plain old excuse for not taking responsibility for an action or a behavior. But what should we do when we feel we have a genuine disorder that we cannot overcome?

First of all, we must realize that we are all a little off center. (Now don’t you nod your head and think of me so fast!) Things happen, and they can affect us. We get bumped and we can get off a bit. We get jilted and we can get tilted. We need to be re-set and brought back towards the center. If not, we can develop patterns and molds that are non-healthy because we’re too far off the midpoint where the healthy zone is.

So, what do we do from here? We’ve got to take it to Jesus. Is it a hurt? Then tell the Lord. He knows all about it. (Isa 53:3) He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief . . . Is it a sin? Then we can confess it to Him and get clean. (Isa 1:18) . . . Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow . . . Is it a crushing burden? Heave-ho to the Lord! (Psa 55:22) Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

My brother. My sister. Do you want to get some order in your disorder? Draw close to Jesus (Jms 4:8). Get grounded in His Word (Col 1:23). Be established in the grace and love of Christ (Eph 3:17). Your center becomes Him. And where He is there is healing. Touch the hem of His garment. Let His healing virtue flow out and heal you (Luke 8:43-48). You’ve been worn out and tired. There has been a multitude of anxieties in your mind trying to throw you off center and trouble you. But God can handle you . . . and all your worries and fears. Don’t think you’re too complex for Him. He made you and He can adjust you back to where you need to be.

Remember all the people Jesus healed in the gospels? Each one had a problem and Jesus healed them all. Jesus is healing today. Nothing is new or modern to Him. There’s no new category or label that confounds Him. Contemporary complexities, eccentricities, perplexities, toxicity . . . you name it. He knows all about it and knows how to treat it.

Read these scriptures and let the Lord put some order in your disorder:

  • (Mark 5:15) Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind . . .

  • (John 5:6-8) When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" 7 The sick man answered Him . . . 8 Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk."
