ARE YOU OBSESSING?

(Col 3:2) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Do you tend to have nagging thoughts and worries that invade your mind on a regular basis? Do you constantly deal with troublesome and pesky fears and uncertainties? Has it been awhile since you’ve had a clear and healthy mental state? Then you’re probably like a lot of us . . . you’re obsessing!

My dear Christian friend . . . your heart is a beautiful heart. I have a feeling you love the Lord with all your soul. There’s nothing you wouldn’t do for the Lord. But the problem isn’t with your heart. It’s with your mind! Listen to what Jesus said, (Mat 22:37) . . . 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' Ahh, that’s where we want our love for the Lord to invade . . . our mind. We love Him with all of our heart. We love Him with all of our soul. Now we want to learn to love Him with all of our mind.

Notice how I said we have to “learn.” That means it just takes time. It has to be a work of the Spirit for His sweet rain to reach our brain. And that’s when these disturbing doubts will begin to go down the drain. (That way we won’t go insane!) But until the Lord does that work of healing between our ears, what can we do?

- MEDITATE ON GOD’S PROMISES: (Rom 15:4) For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

- SING PRAISES: (Acts 16:25-26) But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.

- PRAY AND TRUST IN THE LORD: (Isa 26:3) You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

I am praying that God will give you a peace that passes understanding that will fill your heart and mind (Phil 4:6-7). I am believing God that He is going to grant you such a calm assurance that will flood your thought life and be like Draino in your braino! (I want to make you laugh because your head has been working overtime and you probably need some fresh air.)

One final word: Just remember how much Jesus loves you. The Lord is in control and He’s got a plan. And His blessing is going to conquer your obsessing!
