WAR

(Psa 120:7) I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.

War. It’s a terrible thing. Some say it’s necessary at times. Others say to stay out of it. It brings death. It injures and maims. It fosters hatred and hostility. It divides people and nations. Why all the aggression? Why can’t the world get along? Why are treaties broken before the ink is dry? The Bible has the answer and it’s plain and simple:

  • (James 4:1) Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?

War comes from the heart.

  • (Mat 15:19) "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

The war is not just overseas. The war is in our own backyard. The war isn’t just “over there” but right here. There’s war in our cities. There’s war in Congress. There’s war in the family. Friends fight. Employees bicker. Neighbors can be mean. But the real war is in me.

So how can there be peace? Well, first of all the war has to be won in my heart against God.

  • (Rom 5:1) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then I can have peace with my brother:

  • (Eph 2:14-16) For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity…so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.

Are you an advocate for world peace? Then win the war of your own heart.

  • (Eph 4:31) Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

And let the Prince of peace rule in your heart today!

  • (Col 3:15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts . . .
