WHAT A WOMAN!

(Pro 31:10) Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

The book of Proverbs describes all kinds of women. There is the wicked woman who keeps popping up in chapters 1-9. There is the nagging wife vibrantly mentioned throughout the book (19:13, 21:9, 19, 25:24, 27:15). But here in the concluding chapter there is the most beautiful description of a godly woman who loves and serves her family. She’s a rarity. Her worth is far above rubies. And her husband is always commenting . . . WHAT A WOMAN!

So how do you describe this virtuous woman of Proverbs 31? She is:

Trustworthy and reliable (11-12)

Industrious and hardworking (13-19)

Not preaching but reaching (20)

A good planner (21)

A woman of individual style (22)

Contented for making her husband a better man (23)

A good business woman (24)

One who has a large wardrobe of godly characteristics (25)

Wise and kind (26)

A good household manager (27)

Appreciated by her family (28-29)

One who fears the Lord (30)

Deserving of reward (31)

Women can get attention for being charming. Women can get attention for being beautiful. But what can you say about that rare woman who fears the Lord and displays the above virtuous qualities? The same thing I say about my wife and the mother of my children . . . WHAT A WOMAN!
