SPIRITUAL B.O.

We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. (2 Cor 6:3)

One time I was at the gym working out and this guy next to me stank! It was bad enough doing the Ab-crunches on the sit-up bench but to add this guy’s body odor next to me was way too much. So, I moved on to another part of the gym to continue my workout. And guess what? There was this gal who was over on a machine whose offensive body odor was wafting in my direction. I wondered if it was National B.O. Day or something because then I went over to work out on a particular machine and there was a person who also left his scent as well. Then it dawned on me. All these people in the gym didn’t have B.O. . . . I did! I couldn’t believe it. I was the one that stank!

The Bible says we stink because of the spiritual decay of sin (Psa 51; John 11:38-39). We give off an odor that I guess the world is used too but we as Christian’s shouldn’t be. We need to display the fragrance of Christ (2 Cor 2:14-16). We want people to be drawn to Christ and not turned away from Him by our bad witness (2 Sam 12:13-14). I wonder if we are examining ourselves closely enough or do we allow certain compromises to the point where spiritual B.O. is building up and we don’t even know it?

May the Lord cleanse us and freshen us up so we can let the world know there is fragrance ready to make their life beautiful and attractive through the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
