(Psa 119:141) I am small and despised, Yet I do not forget Your precepts.

Do you ever feel small in a big world? Do you ever feel worthless in comparison with the larger life of others? Small. It’s not cool in our society. America loves it big and splashy. We’re the big country with the biggest of everything. Little is not in. It’s weak and unrespectable. We celebrate the “Who’s Who” in society all the while knowing we’ll never be in that crowd. We’re more in the “Who’s That” club! But can God use the small things? Can God use us just the way we are?

Small. The Messiah was born in a small town as a wee little baby: (Micah 5:2) "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting."

Small. A child’s lunch feeds the multitude: (John 6:9) "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?" (John 6:11) And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.

Small. Gideon chosen to defeat the Midianites: (Judg 6:15-16) So he said to Him, "O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house." 16 And the LORD said to him, "Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man."

Small. A little church on a corner in a small town reaches out to a needy world for Jesus Christ: (Rev 3:8) "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

Now what about you? Think you have to be big stuff for God to use you? (1 Cor 1:26-29) For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.

We might be small but we have a big God! (Jer 32:27) "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Are you small? Walk tall. And let Jesus do it all . . . and let Him get the glory!
