MONEY

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Tim 6:10)

How’s your pocketbook lately? Hard come, easy go, eh? I know the feeling. But the Bible says so much about money to encourage us and to let us know God will always provide for our needs. Study the following and be free from undo concern because our Father provides.

-God will meet every legitimate need we have: (Phil 4:19) And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

-Live contentedly within your income: (1 Tim 6:6-8) Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

-We are not to worry about bills or obligations: (Mat 6:25) "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

-Keep greed at bay or you’ll pay!: (1 Tim 6:9) But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

-Pay your bills on time and stay out of debt: (Pro 22:7) The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.

-Save wisely: (Pro 6:6-8) Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, 8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.

-Give generously and cheerfully to the work of the Lord: (2 Cor 9:6-7) But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

-Remember the poor: (Pro 28:27) He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.

-Know that wise money management is a doorway to other blessings from God: (Luke 16:11) "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

-Serve God and not mammon!: (Mat 6:24) "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Lord, we’ve heard what Your Word says about money. Strengthen our faith to trust in You to provide for all of our needs. Keep us from the love of money and may our greatest drive in life be to know You better and to enjoy you more!”
